Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon Walkthrough: Actually Getting Through It
Path of the Furon is the third game in the Destroy All Humans series and it carries a lot of bloat from its predecessors. The core loop stays the same — clone, raid, collect DNA, upgrade, repeat — but the map is huge and the side content drags on for hours if you let it. I finished this one about three times now and I still miss secret collectibles in different runs. Here is what actually matters for getting through this game without losing your mind. The DNA system is your health and experience bar combined. You spend DNA on weapons, abilities, and crypto-smith upgrades. The trap most people walk into is spending DNA early on weapon upgrades before they figure out the combo system. Crypto-smithing combinations give you exponentially more power per DNA point than straight upgrades. Learn the combos first. Spend the rest second.
The early game in Area 51 and the small Texas town wastes about forty minutes if you skip conversations properly. There is a trick with the chopper early on where you can loop certain missions by leaving and re-entering the zone. It saves time but breaks sometimes if you have too many active quest markers. I had a save file crash because I tried this loop while a sub-mission was still tracking. Just reload and try again. Clone recovery is more important than most players realize. When you die, you spawn back in your cloned body at the cloning center. But if you wait too long between deaths, enemies level up around you. Dying five times in a row in Big Top can make the rest of the game significantly harder because the enemies in that area scale with your death count. I learned this the hard way during a no-clone run attempt and had to restart from a backup save. Keep your deaths low or move to a different area after two or three. The Furon storyline missions are where the game gets interesting. These are separate from the human invasion missions. You need to complete Furon missions to unlock certain endings and powerful weapons. The Furon bases are hidden in plain sight sometimes. They look like normal human military bases until you get close enough to trigger the cloaked entrance. One of them is behind a seemingly normal barn in Wisconsin. I spent twenty minutes trying to find the entrance to that base before realizing the barn door was the trigger point.
Weapon recommendations that actually work. The Flaming Fist is solid early game. The Bio Lance becomes your best friend once you get it. It pierces multiple enemies and the upgrade path gives it armor penetration. The Psigun is underrated for crowd control. Save the Ion Beam for late game because the upgrade cost is steep and the base damage is underwhelming compared to what you have available. Collectibles are spread thin across the map. There are over two hundred to find and they include UFO parts, alien masks, and secret areas. The UFO parts unlock bonus content and weapons. Don't skip them. The alien masks are mostly flavor but a few unlock special challenges. If you want the platinum trophy or completionist status, you need almost every single one. Save your game frequently and in different slots. The auto-save sometimes overwrites a slot you needed. I lost about six hours of progress once because the game auto-saved over my manual save right before a boss fight. I had to replay the entire area from scratch.

The game runs fine on modern systems through the Steam or GOG versions. If you are playing on an older PC, lower the texture quality and turn off reflections. That alone makes it run smoothly on hardware from five years ago. The original Xbox version had some slowdown during heavy particle scenes that does not exist in the remastered ports. If you want a focused walkthrough for a specific section, the final act involving the Fusion Cannon is where most people get stuck. You need to defend a location while charging the weapon. It sounds simple but enemies spawn in waves from multiple directions. Position yourself near the center of the map with line of sight to all spawn points. Use the Bio Lance or Ion Beam for this. Spread out enemies before they group up on you. The Fusion Cannon charge takes about two minutes uninterrupted so keeping the area clear is critical. The game has its flaws. The combat can get repetitive after hour ten. The story is silly and stays that way throughout. Some mission design repeats the same objectives with minor changes. But the exploration and power fantasy of playing as Crypto still work well. It is not a perfect game but it is a solid time sink if you go in with the right expectations.
