Getting Through Ashika Science Center in DMZ
Ashika Science Center is one of the high-risk, high-reward locations on the Ashika Island map in DMZ. It sits in the northern part of the island, near the coastline, and it's one of those places where you're basically volunteering for contact the moment you step through the door. I'm going to walk through how to approach it, what you'll find inside, and how to actually get in and out alive. First, the layout. The Science Center is a two-story building with a main entrance facing south toward the open road, but the side and rear entrances are often where the real action happens. The ground floor has a series of interconnected rooms and hallways that funnel movement into narrow choke points. Stairs lead up to a second-floor walkway that overlooks the central atrium. If you're doing a quick pull and go, you should clear the ground floor first, then have someone cover the stairs while you rotate up. Nobody likes losing their loot because they skipped the stairs and got flanked from above.
Dmz Ashika Science Center Loot and Objectives
The Science Center tends to hold some of the better gear on Ashika. You're looking at mid-to-high-tier weapons, blue and purple keycards (which you need for certain high-value extractions or mission objectives), construction cases, and occasionally the DNA samples or other mission items that the game spawns randomly. I've seen it drop at least one blue keycard in nearly every run I've done there, which makes it worth the risk even when the lobby is stacked. There are also a couple of mission-specific objectives that route through here. If you have a mission that requires you to hack a terminal or collect something from the Science Center, it'll usually be on the second floor or in the back rooms. Check your mission list before you commit to pulling the trigger on this location. Running in blind is how you die holding a half-empty mag with four AI soldiers around the corner. I ran into a specific problem on my third attempt at clearing this place. I was running a squad comp and we methodically cleared the ground floor, calling out every room. We moved to the stairs and one of my teammates went first, but as soon as he hit the second step, an AI team that had spawn-camped from the second-floor side corridor opened up with automatic fire. He went down before he could react. The problem was that the spawn placement for that side room isn't obvious from the ground floor. There's a small corridor running perpendicular to the main atrium, and the AI spawns in there about 15 meters out, completely invisible until they're already firing.
The workaround is simple but you won't figure it out until you die to it once. When you reach the stairs, have someone throw a frag grenade or use a launched round into that side corridor before anyone steps foot on the stairs. One throw clears it. I've been doing this every time since, and it saved us from getting wiped at least a dozen times over the next few weeks. Just remember you have to do it before moving up, not after. Waiting until you hear gunfire means someone is already dead.
Tactical Approach and Extraction
The biggest mistake people make at the Science Center is treating it like a standard building clear. It's not. Between the tight interior corridors and the open approach from the south, you're vulnerable from two directions at once. I recommend entering from the rear or east side if your squad is ready to fight, because the approach is more covered and gives you a natural wall to your back while you clear. The south entrance puts you walking straight into an open field with zero cover for about 30 meters before you hit the building. That's a death sentence if any other squad has eyes on you.Get the Full Details

Once you're inside, treat the ground floor like a funnel. Move room by room, don't sprint through. The layout punishes speed. Clear the corners. Listen for the distinct AI footsteps on the tile flooring upstairs. When you hear that, someone is already on the second floor and you've lost the element of surprise. For extraction, the Science Center has a designated extraction point roughly 100 meters to the northeast, near the coastal road. If you're looting heavy and can't carry everything, drop what you don't need at the base and run light. I've lost twice as much gear turning back for a single construction case than I've ever gained from retrieving it. The math doesn't work out in your favor. There's also a helicopter extraction available if you call it in, but that takes time and makes noise. If you're hearing distant gunfire or suspect a player squad is nearby, the ground exfil is faster and quieter. Helicopter pulls have saved my life more than once, but they've also gotten me killed when I called one in without checking the surrounding area first. Always do a quick sweep of the landing zone before you wait for the bird.
The Science Center is a solid target for a focused run. It's not the most dangerous location on the map, but it's not easy either. Play it smart, clear that side corridor before you hit the stairs, and know when to walk away. Some runs you'll get the loot and get out clean. Other runs you'll die holding an assault rifle in a hallway and lose everything. That's just DMZ.
