Getting to a Kane Brown Show in Grand Rapids: What You Actually Need to Know
I went to a Kane Brown concert at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids a couple of years ago. It was good but definitely not straightforward to pull off right. Here is the breakdown of how I navigated it and what I wish someone had told me before buying tickets. The main venue Kane Brown plays in Grand Rapids is Van Andel Arena, located downtown near the Amway Center. He also sometimes does smaller club dates at The Pyramid or special outdoor summer shows at DeVos Place. Ticket prices ranged from about $45 to $280 depending on where you sat and when you bought them. General admission floor tickets sold out in under four minutes on the day I checked. Buy tickets only through Ticketmaster or the venue's official box office. I learned this the hard way. I almost bought resale tickets on a third-party site that turned out to be a bot farm. The tickets never delivered and customer service was non-existent. Stick to Verified Resale on Ticketmaster if you miss the initial drop.
One problem I ran into that nobody warned me about: parking at Van Andel Arena on a show night costs around $40 to $55 and the lots fill up by 5 PM for a 7:30 PM show. My workaround was to park at the downtown Ramp at City Market and walk about eight minutes. That cost me $15 instead and I still got there with time to spare. Soundcheck usually happens two hours before doors open. If you are serious about getting close to the stage you can sometimes catch soundcheck by showing up early and standing near the front rail area. Staff will let anyone in during soundcheck without a ticket. I've done this at Kane Brown shows before and you can actually hear the full mix and get a decent photo or two before they kick everyone out for the actual show. Food and drinks inside the arena run about $18 for a meal and $12 for a beer. Bring an empty plastic water bottle if you want to save money. There is a water fountain near section 108 that works fine.
If you are going with a group of four or more I would recommend booking a hotel room near the Downtown Grand Rapids Marriott or the Hilton Garden Inn because everything walks from there and you avoid the parking problem entirely on a busy night. Hotels in that area jump to $200-plus on show nights so book at least two weeks ahead.
