Getting Started With Man 2 on iPhone

i just finished my third run through Man 2 on iOS and figured i'd save people some time since the in-game tutorial skips over a lot of what actually matters. this isn't a full walkthrough, just the stuff i wish someone had told me before i threw three hundred hours into wrong habits. download it from the app store, open it, and don't bother with the story mode on your first try. start a new career and pick the heavy class. the light class looks faster in trailers but it gets deleted by anything with a pulse once you're past the first ten missions. trust me on this one. the control scheme takes about twenty minutes to click. your left thumb is movement, right thumb is everything else. the aim assist is aggressive enough that you shouldn't fight it — just hold the right trigger and let the game do the work. if you're manually tracking every headshot you're doing it wrong at this stage.

currency drops steadily after mission four. stop wasting it on weapon skins. the only upgrades that matter are armor rating and sprint recovery. i learned that the hard way when i spent forty thousand credits on a gold camo rifle and died to the same corridor boss twice because my armor was still at base level. one thing the game doesn't tell you: the cover system has a half-second delay before you actually become invulnerable. when you're sliding into cover after taking fire, don't immediately pop out and shoot. wait. count to two in your head. if you peek too early the game registers you as exposed and you'll eat a bullet for nothing. this cost me roughly two dozen unnecessary deaths in my first week. multiplayer matchmaking is rough until you hit rank seven. the skill gap between rank six and rank eight is basically two different games. if you're grinding solo and climbing slowly, that's normal. don't force team play until then unless you want to carry four strangers who will still lose.

the iOS version has touch controls that are functional but not great. i'd recommend a controller if you have one. the gyro aiming help is mediocre at best. i tried using it for three missions and switched back to pure touch because it was adding more drift than it was fixing. save your special ability charges. i know it feels good to spam them, but the cooldown on the main ability is long enough that burning it early leaves you defenseless during the critical moments. i keep mine off until the final push of each mission. works every time. there's a bug where the game freezes on mission sixteen if you've completed at least nine side objectives. i hit it twice before figuring out the pattern. the workaround is to complete the side objectives in a different order than the default path suggests. no patch yet as far as i can tell.

if you're coming from the PC version, don't expect parity. the iOS build cuts some of the later missions and the progression system is tighter. it's not worse, just different. manage your expectations and you'll have a solid time with it. good luck out there.
