Adaptable for instructors with different teaching techniques, this successful book includes various perspectives and contractual settings, and offers a highly intelligent, contemporary treatment of contract law. It can easily be used in teaching by traditional case analysis, through problem-based instruction, or using theoretical inquiry. New to the Ninth Edition: Seven new cases that reflect advances in or improved statements of contract law Two restored cases (Kirksey v. Kirksey and Hill v. Jones) that provide valuable perspectives on fundamental areas of contract law Eight new problems (including seven net additions and one replacement) to provide more review options for teachers and students and to add contemporary fact patterns A new, two-color design featuring interesting photographs illustrating people and places discussed in some of the cases Editing of note and text material to reduce length without affecting coverage Reorganization of text and comment material to focus comments primarily on historical developments, allowing professors flexibility in assigning or deleting comments Student accessibility to deleted cases from prior editions through Connected Casebook, allowing professors the further flexibility of continuing to easily assign cases for which they have a particular preference Professors and students will benefit from: Flexible application for professors with various teaching methodologies: traditional, problem, theoretical, and practical A mixture of classic and contemporary cases The authors’ emphasis on accessibility of the material—rejecting a hide-the-ball approach Review questions at the end of each chapter that are primarily designed for students to perform self-assessments of their grasp of the material. Answers with explanations are included in an appendix within the book. |

bmw financial services vehicle trust: Training in the Motor Vehicle Repair and Sales Sector in the United Kingdom European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, 1994 An international team of researchers studied the following aspects of training in the United Kingdom's motor vehicle repair and sales sector: structure and characteristics; institutional and social context; relationship to the labor market; changing structural, economic, and organizational conditions; and training/recruitment and relationship to the British education system. Government statistics were analyzed, and case studies were conducted of five very different companies, including a small franchise of a major auto maker, a large dealership/service center, a vehicle electrical system repairer that is 1 of 700 outlets, and a family business. Each case study included a profile of the company, its personnel management and vocational policies, and its provisions for continuing/ongoing training. The study concluded that the British automotive industry exemplified the demise of the country's vocational and education training system. Although the recent national system of vocational qualifications and other initiatives have promised to improve the level and consistency of training provision in the automotive industry, the main issue now facing individual dealerships remains that of finding the resources to invest in the level of training required to produce the skilled employees demanded by vehicle manufacturers, government standards, and market pressures. bmw financial services vehicle trust: Banking on Change London Institute of Banking and Finance, 2019-09-02 PRAISE FOR Banking on Change In this 140th Anniversary celebration book, The London Institute of Banking and Finance stick to their core function of educating us all, but especially aspirant bankers, on the role and concerns of (retail and commercial) banking in the UK. They have assembled a well-chosen group of practitioners from a range of professions to write clear and easily assimilable essays, no technical expertise required, on a wide variety of current banking issues. If you want to learn about the current practices and problems of UK retail banking, this book must be essential reading. —Charles Goodhart, emeritus professor of banking and finance at the London School of Economics In this important book, a line from Bill Allen's contribution is key: 'Nobody can predict the ferocity of the gale of creative destruction' that faces the financial services sector. True; but if you read the many and varied contributions, you'll have a pretty good idea. Moreover, you'll understand how we (that is, bankers) got here – and what we should do to make the industry more competitive, fairer and more genuinely useful. It is a soup-to-nuts look at banking – from the early days of the Institute of Banking, through the go-go years of ifs, to a present and future that are likely to be dominated by technology. It is well-worth a long read. —Andrew Hilton, director, Centre for the Study of Financial Innovation If you were to imagine what a book celebrating 140 years of financial knowledge might contain, you could not come up with a better selection than this. As well as a historic sweep – from no-tech to fintech, the decline of trust and the rise of competition – today's hot subjects are addressed, including sustainable investing, cultural diversity and digital identity. The cradle-to-grave nature of the industry is captured in pieces about financial education and pensions. And it's well written, setting the scene nicely for the next era. —Jane Fuller, Fellow of the Society of Investment Professionals Financial services are undergoing rapid, and potentially dramatic, change. What will happen in payments, in sustainable finance and in fintech? How can the industry boost financial inclusion and ensure that its workforce has the skills it needs to meet regulatory requirements and to compete with new entrants? Can trade finance rise to the challenge of underpinning global trade for all and help the developing world avoid financial abandonment? What do financial services need to do to protect our digital identities? Banking on Change provides insights by experts and influencers from across the financial services industry on these and other questions. Published to mark the 140th anniversary of The London Institute of Banking & Finance, this book is intended to be of lasting value to both students and professionals. |
bmw financial services vehicle trust: The Trust Economy: Building strong networks and realising exponential value in the digital age Philipp Kristian Diekhöner, 2017-04-15 Airbnb, Uber, TripAdvisor, Bitcoin, Carousell – this is the way we live today. Over the past decade, one of the most revolutionary changes in our global economy has been the creation of trusted digital intermediaries. These platforms allow us – as individuals and as businesses – to exchange value with one another in new and better ways. We are experiencing a modern relationship renaissance, enabled by technology and powered by trust. But not everyone has succeeded equally. Corporate innovation efforts are often stymied by a culture of distrust that kills creativity, impedes progress and reduces competitive advantage. As incumbents lurch from one identity crisis to another and startups flood every industry from retail to insurance, only the most trusted players will succeed. The Trust Economy introduces a world-first structured model for building trust in six progressive stages. Whatever industry you’re in, whatever the size of your business, the trust model will set you on the path to reaping the most value from the opportunities and challenges of the digital age. |
