byte westlake portfolio management: Using and programming the Epson HX-20 portable computer E. Balkan, 2012-12-06 Why this book? Other than the fact that I like writing about computers more than just about anything else, this book fills several real needs. No matter how many manuals a computer manufacturer puts out to accompany a syste- and some of Epson America's are very good - not everything can be covered. This book fills in the gaps. This book is unbiased, having been written independently of Epson. So, I won't be telling you to drop everything and run out to buy an HX-20. The HX- 20 is good for some uses, not so good for some others. This book is a guide to out of the machine and/or pointing you towards a different getting the most machine that might better suit your needs. At the start of this project I had to decide who was my target audience: novices, experts, or those in between? Because HX-20 owners and prospective owners don't fall into neat categories, I tried to 'cover all the bases'. Or at least as many as possible. As with any attempt to do everything, I didn't always succeed. But I did succeed in providing at least something for everyone. For those who haven't yet bought a portable - or are unsure if buying an HX-20 was the right move - there are descriptions of 20 other portables on the market. For those who have used other computers before, there's information on how Epson BASIC differs from other BASICs, with tips on converting programs. |

byte westlake portfolio management: Fuct Erik Brunetti, Aaron Rose, 2013 The first book to celebrate one of the iconic brands of American streetwear. An originator of West Coast street and skate style, FUCT was a cult Los Angeles brand that went on to become one of the most influential American streetwear labels, influencing not only the style but also the graphic and referential approach of countless artists and companies. Driven by the provocative vision of its creator, the artist Erik Brunetti, FUCT’s appeal drew on contemporary skate aesthetics and invoked a situationist slant on brand-oriented consumer culture. Famous for their appropriation of iconic logos, and renowned for collaborations with artists, designers, and companies as diverse as David Mann and Shawn Mortensen, FUCT continues to flirt with controversy as it remains at the forefront of American street fashion and culture. Published to coincide with the brand’s twentieth anniversary, with contributions from icons of the street fashion world such as Aaron Rose and Gary Warnett, this beautifully illustrated, comprehensive volume explores the archives of the brand’s products and advertising, as well as Brunetti’s artwork, sketches, and films that continue to inspire and inform the brand. |

byte westlake portfolio management: Audio Mastering: the Artists Russ Hepworth-Sawyer, Jay Hodgson, 2018-10-02 Audio Mastering: The Artists collects more than twenty interviews, drawn from more than 60 hours of discussions, with many of the world's leading mastering engineers. In these exclusive and often intimate interviews, engineers consider the audio mastering process as they, themselves, experience and shape it as the leading artists in their field. Each interview covers how engineers got started in the recording industry, what prompted them to pursue mastering, how they learned about the process, which tools and techniques they routinely use when they work, and a host of other particulars of their crafts. We also spoke with mix engineers, and craftsmen responsible for some of the more iconic mastering tools now on the market, to gain a broader perspective on their work. This book is the first to provide such a comprehensive overview of the audio mastering process told from the point-of-view of the artists who engage in it. In so doing, it pulls the curtain back on a crucial, but seldom heard from, agency in record production at large. |
