carf standards manual 2022: Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention Maurizio Pompili, 2022-12-19 This book explores suicide prevention perspectives from around the world, considering both professionals’ points of view as well as first-person accounts from suicidal individuals. Scholars around the globe have puzzled over what makes a person suicidal and what is in the minds of those individuals who die by suicide. Most often the focus is not on the motives for suicide, nor on the phenomenology of this act, but on what is found from small cohorts of suicidal individuals. This book offers a tentative synthesis of a complex phenomenon, and sheds some light on models of suicide that are less frequently encountered in the literature. Written by international experts, it makes a valuable contribution to the field of suicidology that appeals to a wide readership, from mental health professionals to researchers in suicidology and students.

carf standards manual 2022: Supervision in Neuropsychology Doug Bodin, Kirk J. Stucky, Shane S. Bush, 2022 Clinical supervision is one of the primary means by which health service psychologists learn to provide clinical care to patients or clients (Falender & Shafranske, 2004). Clinical supervision has been conceptualized as an intervention that consists of a collaborative and evaluative relationship in which the supervisor monitors the professional services offered and serves as a gatekeeper of those who are entering the profession (Bernard & Goodyear, 2004). In the general fields of clinical and counseling psychology, supervision is one of the top five activities performed by psychologists (Peak, Nussbaum, & Tindell, 2002). During the last three decades, the importance of clinical supervision has been recognized in clinical psychology in various ways. First, in 1996, the American Psychological Association (APA) required accredited training programs to provide students and interns with training in supervision (APA, 1996). In 2004, supervision was identified as one of eight core competencies in psychology (Kaslow, 2004) and further elaborated into specific supervision competencies (Falender et al., 2004). In 2014, the APA board of educational affairs published specific Guidelines for Clinical Supervision in Health Service Psychology (APA, 2014). Supervision guidelines have also been published by the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) (CPA, 2010). Despite the importance of supervision in clinical psychology, not all psychologists report receiving formal training in clinical supervision (Peak, Nussbaum, & Tindell, 2002; Schwent Shultz, Pederson, Roper, & Rey-Casserly, 2014)--

carf standards manual 2022: The Promise of Assistive Technology to Enhance Activity and Work Participation National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Health and Medicine Division, Board on Health Care Services, Committee on the Use of Selected Assistive Products and Technologies in Eliminating or Reducing the Effects of Impairments, 2017-09-01 The U.S. Census Bureau has reported that 56.7 million Americans had some type of disability in 2010, which represents 18.7 percent of the civilian noninstitutionalized population included in the 2010 Survey of Income and Program Participation. The U.S. Social Security Administration (SSA) provides disability benefits through the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) program and the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. As of December 2015, approximately 11 million individuals were SSDI beneficiaries, and about 8 million were SSI beneficiaries. SSA currently considers assistive devices in the nonmedical and medical areas of its program guidelines. During determinations of substantial gainful activity and income eligibility for SSI benefits, the reasonable cost of items, devices, or services applicants need to enable them to work with their impairment is subtracted from eligible earnings, even if those items or services are used for activities of daily living in addition to work. In addition, SSA considers assistive devices in its medical disability determination process and assessment of work capacity. The Promise of Assistive Technology to Enhance Activity and Work Participation provides an analysis of selected assistive products and technologies, including wheeled and seated mobility devices, upper-extremity prostheses, and products and technologies selected by the committee that pertain to hearing and to communication and speech in adults.

carf standards manual 2022: The Future of Nursing Institute of Medicine, Committee on the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Initiative on the Future of Nursing, at the Institute of Medicine, 2011-02-08 The Future of Nursing explores how nurses' roles, responsibilities, and education should change significantly to meet the increased demand for care that will be created by health care reform and to advance improvements in America's increasingly complex health system. At more than 3 million in number, nurses make up the single largest segment of the health care work force. They also spend the greatest amount of time in delivering patient care as a profession. Nurses therefore have valuable insights and unique abilities to contribute as partners with other health care professionals in improving the quality and safety of care as envisioned in the Affordable Care Act (ACA) enacted this year. Nurses should be fully engaged with other health professionals and assume leadership roles in redesigning care in the United States. To ensure its members are well-prepared, the profession should institute residency training for nurses, increase the percentage of nurses who attain a bachelor's degree to 80 percent by 2020, and double the number who pursue doctorates. Furthermore, regulatory and institutional obstacles-including limits on nurses' scope of practice-should be removed so that the health system can reap the full benefit of nurses' training, skills, and knowledge in patient care. In this book, the Institute of Medicine makes recommendations for an action-oriented blueprint for the future of nursing.

carf standards manual 2022: Vocational Rehabilitation Gordon Waddell, Vocational Rehabilitation Task Group, A. Kim Burton, Industrial Injuries Advisory Council, Nicholas Kendall, 2008-07-17 The aim of this review was to provide an evidence base for policy development on vocational rehabilitation - defined as whatever helps someone with a health problem to stay at, return to and remain at work. The focus was on adults of working age, the common health problems that account for two-thirds of long-term sickness (mild/moderate musculoskeletal, mental health and cardio-respiratory conditions) and work outcomes (staying at, returning to and remaining in work). Data from some 450 scientific reviews and reports were included in evidence tables. The review demonstrates that there is a strong scientific evidence base for many aspects of vocational rehabilitation, a good business case for it and more evidence on cost-benefits than for many health and social policy areas. Generic and condition-specific findings are reported, and practical suggestions offered for the differing types of people affected by health problems. Vocational rehabilitation should be a fundamental element of government strategy to improve the health of working age people.

carf standards manual 2022: Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process Aota, 2014 As occupational therapy celebrates its centennial in 2017, attention returns to the profession's founding belief in the value of therapeutic occupations as a way to remediate illness and maintain health. The founders emphasized the importance of establishing a therapeutic relationship with each client and designing an intervention plan based on the knowledge about a client's context and environment, values, goals, and needs. Using today's lexicon, the profession's founders proposed a vision for the profession that was occupation based, client centered, and evidence based--the vision articulated in the third edition of the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework: Domain and Process. The Framework is a must-have official document from the American Occupational Therapy Association. Intended for occupational therapy practitioners and students, other health care professionals, educators, researchers, payers, and consumers, the Framework summarizes the interrelated constructs that describe occupational therapy practice. In addition to the creation of a new preface to set the tone for the work, this new edition includes the following highlights: a redefinition of the overarching statement describing occupational therapy's domain; a new definition of clients that includes persons, groups, and populations; further delineation of the profession's relationship to organizations; inclusion of activity demands as part of the process; and even more up-to-date analysis and guidance for today's occupational therapy practitioners. Achieving health, well-being, and participation in life through engagement in occupation is the overarching statement that describes the domain and process of occupational therapy in the fullest sense. The Framework can provide the structure and guidance that practitioners can use to meet this important goal.

No estilo coimbrão, digo 'bem haja'.
