Secondly, there has been a gradual consolidation of EU agencies and bodies (Eurojust, Europol) aimed at promoting cooperation and dialogue among law enforcement officials and judicial authorities responsible for preventing and combating drug trafficking, trafficking in human beings, child pornography, and other serious trans-national offences. Traditionally, the first one is concentrating the reader’s attention on the internal aspects of the organization’s functioning as an object of research. In this regard, articles related to the concept of corporate social responsibility in two ways: organizational research and bibliometric analysis. The authors used an analogical (bibliometric) approach to examine trends in publishing for the concept of learning organizations. In this part of the discussion, the social aspect has been strongly displayed, also thanks to the social capital and enterprise. Another topic in this section is the role of the workers’ knowledge in creating innovative solutions, emphasizing the role of trust and culture-rich collaboration between employees, employees’ participation in creating projects, and organizational change. In addition, it discusses the role of information and knowledge networks and sharing knowledge among employees, which does remain without influence on the shaping of individual employees’ careers. Slightly different from the other articles, though set in this section, there is an article referring to the organizational pathology. These considerations are much more valuable, usually because of the difficult access to negative information. This part of the discussion starts an article about forecasting methods and modern models of business management. In opposition to these considerations, the problem of unused, modern management methods in the local government sector, remains valid. case management system cms: The Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court Pieter Callens, Sam Granata, 2023-12-05 In 2013, twenty-five Member States of the European Union decided to take European patenting and patent enforcement to a next level. They agreed on a common patent title and a common patent court, i.e. the new Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. Unfortunately, the implementation phase of the new patent package appeared to be a bumpy ride: non-participating Member States attacked the legal texts before the EU Court of Justice, the Rules of Procedure of the Unified Patent Court were subject to extensive debates, the Brexit caused the UK to step out of the system, an action before the constitutional court in Germany resulted in years of delay, etc. Nevertheless, the unitary patent package appeared to be a survivor. On 1 June 2023, the Unified Patent Court could finally open its doors with seventeen EU participating Member States. At the same time the first Unitary Patents could officially be registered. From then on, companies, research institutions, and individuals are able to obtain not only a patent title with immediate effect in the participating EU Member States, but also a court decision on infringement or validity of a European or Unitary Patent with immediate effect in all the participating Member States. The authors of this book, one being a leading Belgian IP lawyer who had a hand in the legal texts of the Unitary Patent and the other being a reputed Belgian intellectual property appeal judge who is currently (part-time) UPC judge at the local division in Brussels, were the first in 2013 to publish an introduction to the Unitary Patent and the Unified Patent Court. Much of the proceeds of this corruption find 'safe haven' in the world's financial centers. These criminal flows are a drain on social services and economic development programs, contributing to the impoverishment of the world's poorest countries. Many developing countries have already sought to recover stolen assets. A number of successful high-profile cases with creative international cooperation has demonstrated that asset recovery is possible. However, it is highly complex, involving coordination and collaboration with domestic agencies and ministries in multiple jurisdictions, as well as the capacity to trace and secure assets and pursue various legal options—whether criminal confiscation, non-conviction based confiscation, civil actions, or other alternatives. This process can be overwhelming for even the most experienced practitioners. It is exceptionally difficult for those working in the context of failed states, widespread corruption, or limited resources. With this in mind, the Stolen Asset Recovery (StAR) Initiative has developed and updated this Asset Recovery Handbook: A Guide for Practitioners to assist those grappling with the strategic, organizational, investigative, and legal challenges of recovering stolen assets. A practitioner-led project, the Handbook provides common approaches to recovering stolen assets located in foreign jurisdictions, identifies the challenges that practitioners are likely to encounter, and introduces good practices. It includes examples of tools that can be used by practitioners, such as sample intelligence reports, applications for court orders, and mutual legal assistance requests. StAR—the Stolen Asset Recovery Initiative—is a partnership between the World Bank Group and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime that supports international efforts to end safe havens for corrupt funds. The new management team in the NMC is committed to address its failings. However there continues to be a serious gap between current performance and acceptable standards. The NMC has proposed that fitness to practise cases should be decided on average within 18 months of a complaint being received; the Committee proposes that this should be reduced to 9 months, with a maximum of 12 months. The NMC also has had a poor track record of fitness to practise decisions being challenged and overturned. The CHRE has needed to almost routinely refer NMC decisions to the High Court. It is also unacceptable that the NMC underestimated the budget for its fitness to practise directorate by 30%. The Government's intervention to limit the effect of the fee increase on registrants is welcomed. However, nurses and midwives still face a 32% fee increase at a time of public sector pay restraint. A further fee increase can not be justified and the NMC should consider introducing a phased payment system for registrants. The language and communication skills of nurses and midwives remain a concern. MPs also question why the NMC has made such slow progress on a system of revalidation.
