Sorna, Kent Dramstad, Clarence Rosser Ogilvie, Amanullah Mohammad, James Donald Rockrohr, 2008-12-19 The simplest method of transferring data through the inputs or outputs of a silicon chip is to directly connect each bit of the datapath from one chip to the next chip. Once upon a time this was an acceptable approach. However, one aspect (and perhaps the only aspect) of chip design which has not changed during the career of the authors is Moore’s Law, which has dictated substantial increases in the number of circuits that can be manufactured on a chip. The pin densities of chip packaging technologies have not increased at the same pace as has silicon density, and this has led to a prevalence of High Speed Serdes (HSS) devices as an inherent part of almost any chip design. HSS devices are the dominant form of input/output for many (if not most) high-integration chips, moving serial data between chips at speeds up to 10 Gbps and beyond. Chip designers with a background in digital logic design tend to view HSS devices as simply complex digital input/output cells. This view ignores the complexity associated with serially moving billions of bits of data per second. At these data rates, the assumptions associated with digital signals break down and analog factors demand consideration. The chip designer who oversimplifies the problem does so at his or her own peril.
david performed the following mathematical operation x+3: ACT Math Personal Tutor David Ebner, 2021-01-15 Comprehensive Prep for ACT Math. How is this ACT math review book different from other review books? When you thumb through this book, you won't feel defeated right from the start. Other books present solutions in dry and ineffectual manners and in the shortest possible text. They are virtually indistinguishable one from the other. ACT Math Personal Tutor is different for the following reasons: 1) Easy to follow step-by-step solutions for all problems. 2) Cartoons with hints and insights for solving problems are presented in the first two exams to maintain interest and to lighten up the material. Five full-length exams are included. 3) Because it can be rather dull to spend a lot of time reviewing basic math before tackling full-fledged ACT problems, a short review section at the beginning of the book presents just some foundational knowledge of mathematics. Then, in later sections, each problem introduces a new math concept. Through this method ('personal tutoring'), all the math you need for the ACT will be reviewed. 4) Questions are repeated on the answer pages so that you don't have to flip through the pages to get back to the questions. If your target is a top score, this is the book!
david performed the following mathematical operation x+3: Mathematical Modeling for the Scientific Method David Pravica, Michael Spurr, 2011-08-24 Part of the International Series in Mathematics Mathematical Modeling for the Scientific Method is intended for the sophomore/junior-level student seeking to be well-grounded in mathematical modeling for their studies in biology, the physical sciences, engineering, and/or medicine. It clarifies the connection between deductive and inductive reasoning as used in Mathematics and Science and urges students to think critically about concepts and applications. The authors’ goal is to be introductory in level while covering a broad range of techniques. They unite topics in statistics, linear algebra, calculus and differential equations, while discussing how these subjects are interrelated and utilized. Mathematical Modeling for the Scientific Method leaves students with a clearer perspective of the role of mathematics within the sciences and the understanding of how to rationally work through even rigorous applications with ease.

david performed the following mathematical operation x+3: X Marks the Spot Richard Garfinkle, David Garfinkle, 2021-02-04 X Marks the Spot is written from the point of view of the users of mathematics. Since the beginning, mathematical concepts and techniques (such as arithmetic and geometry) were created as tools with a particular purpose like counting sheep and measuring land areas. Understanding those purposes leads to a greater understanding of why mathematics developed as it did. Later mathematical concepts came from a process of abstracting and generalizing earlier mathematics. This process of abstraction is very powerful, but often comes at the price of intuition and understanding. This book strives to give a guided tour of the development of various branches of mathematics (and what they’re used for) that will give the reader this intuitive understanding. Features Treats mathematical techniques as tools, and areas of mathematics as the result of abstracting and generalizing earlier mathematical tools Written in a relaxed conversational and occasionally humorous style making it easy to follow even when discussing esoterica. Unravels how mathematicians think, demystifying math and connecting it to the ways non-mathematicians think and connecting math to people’s lives Discusses how math education can be improved in order to prevent future generations from being turned off by math.
